ABOUT ReLPAG

During 2002 a few visionary psychologists began NePAG which evolved over the years into an action group named ReLPAG to assist psychologists who currently do not agree with the Health Professions Council of South Africa’s (HPCSA) interpretation and implementation of the latest legislation (published 2 September 2011) regarding the scope of practice for psychologists.

All the categories of registration in psychology are represented by ReLPAG. Although the majority of our support originates from Educational psychologists and Counselling psychologists, there are also Industrial psychologists and some Clinical psychologists who support the aims of ReLPAG, enabling psychologists to practice within the boundaries of their competency based on their formal education, training, supervised experience and/or appropriate professional experience in accordance with the Etical Code of Conduct of the HPCSA (Page 16). Non-clinical psychologists have experienced a steep decline in income (as certain medical aids ceased payment and others are following their examples to our greatest distress) as well as professional status and have been devaluated, ostracized, humiliated and demeaned not only as professional individuals but also as a particular professional group inside a professional society.  People who are in the process of being humiliated are usually left stunned, speechless and more than that, voiceless.  But . . .

ReLPAG gives a dignified voice to its members by bringing ReLPAG's case before the

High Court and by doing so, refusing to accept injustice, disrespect and a loss of professional standing and status.
